Alex Wurman, born October 5, 1966 in Chicago, Illinois, USA, is a composer. He is writing the music for the first season of The Newsroom. He joined the show with the second episode "News Night 2.0". He took over the composer role from Thomas Newman who wrote the music for the series pilot "We Just Decided To", including the series main theme.
Wurman worked on the HBO miniseries Temple Grandin and the HBO film Bernard and Doris. Wurman won the 2010 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Composition for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special (Original Dramatic Score), for his work on Temple Grandin. He has also written music for Run Fatboy Run, Anchorman, Talladega Nights, and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.
